Washer error codes explained

Bosch front-load washers display E-codes on the selector dial or digital panel. E18 (drain pump timeout) and E04 (leak in the base) are the two most reported. A blocked coin trap or kinked drain hose resolves E18 in most cases — check the filter access panel at the bottom-right corner of the machine.

Door-lock codes (E16, E34) prevent the cycle from starting. The interlock mechanism can stick after a power interruption; a reset usually clears it. If the code persists, the lock assembly needs replacement.

Motor and inverter codes (E21, E57) indicate electrical faults that require a multimeter to diagnose. These are not safe to troubleshoot without disconnecting power — schedule a repair with our washer repair specialists. We service every Bosch model in all 50 states.
