What E2 means on your Bosch vent hood
Error code E2 indicates a fault in the lighting system — specifically the LED driver circuit. Bosch vent hoods with integrated LED lighting use a driver board to regulate power to the LED strips or modules. When the driver fails or detects an issue with the LED circuit (open or short), E2 is displayed.
Symptoms
- The vent hood lights don’t turn on or flicker
- Partial lighting — some LEDs work while others don’t
- E2 appears on the control display or as a blinking indicator
- The fan functions still work normally
Common causes
- LED driver board failure — the most common cause; the electronic driver that converts AC to the low-voltage DC the LEDs require fails
- LED strip failure — individual LEDs or solder joints on the strip fail, causing an open circuit
- Wiring fault — the connection between the driver and the LEDs or the main board is interrupted
Troubleshooting steps you can try
- Power reset — turn off the breaker for 60 seconds. A transient power glitch can cause a false E2.
- Check for flickering — if the lights flicker before going out, the driver is likely failing intermittently.
When to call a technician
E2 is a low-priority repair since the fan functions aren’t affected. A technician will typically replace the LED driver board — a small module accessible from inside the vent hood housing. LED strip replacement is less common but may be needed if individual LEDs have failed. Codes may vary by model generation and series.
