What E25 means on your Bosch dishwasher
Error code E25 indicates a blockage at the drain pump cover or check valve area. This is closely related to E24 but points to the internal side of the drain system — specifically the pump cover, check valve flap, or the area immediately around the drain pump impeller. The pump may be running but unable to push water past the obstruction.
Symptoms
- Similar to E24 — water remains in the tub after draining
- The drain pump sounds like it’s working but water drains very slowly or not at all
- E25 may appear intermittently, sometimes clearing on its own
- A slight odor from standing water in the tub
Common causes
- Debris under the pump cover — food particles, glass shards, or labels get past the filter and lodge in the pump cover area
- Stuck check valve — the rubber flap valve at the pump outlet sticks shut due to grease or mineral buildup
- Impeller obstruction — a small hard object jams between the impeller and pump housing
Troubleshooting steps you can try
- Remove the filter assembly — take out the cylindrical filter and flat mesh filter to access the pump cover area.
- Clean the pump cover — on most Bosch models, there’s a twist-off pump cover in the sump. Turn it counterclockwise, remove it, and clear any debris from inside and around the impeller.
- Check the check valve — the rubber flap should move freely. If it’s stiff or stuck, gently flex it to restore movement.
- Run a rinse cycle — after cleaning, run a short rinse cycle to verify drainage.
When to call a technician
E25 is usually resolvable with a thorough cleaning of the pump area. If the check valve is damaged or the impeller is cracked, replacement parts are needed. A technician can also check for issues deeper in the drain path that aren’t accessible from the tub. Codes may vary by model generation and series.
