What E2 means on your Bosch wine cooler
Error code E2 indicates a fault with the lower temperature zone sensor. The lower zone typically stores red wines at a warmer temperature (55–65°F). When this sensor fails, the control board cannot regulate the lower compartment’s temperature, and E2 is displayed. The upper zone may continue to function independently.
Symptoms
- E2 displayed on the control panel
- Lower zone temperature is inconsistent or doesn’t match the set point
- The compressor runs erratically for the lower zone
- Upper zone continues to work normally
Common causes
- NTC sensor failure — same failure mode as E1 but in the lower compartment
- Loose connector — the plug connecting the sensor to the control board has vibrated loose
- Wire damage from defrost moisture — on some models, defrost water can damage the lower sensor wiring
Troubleshooting steps you can try
- Power reset — unplug for 60 seconds and monitor for 24 hours.
- Check for condensation — look inside the lower compartment for unusual moisture that might indicate a defrost or seal issue affecting the sensor.
When to call a technician
The repair is identical to E1 — sensor replacement in the lower zone. A technician will test and replace the sensor and check the wiring path. Both E1 and E2 sensors are typically the same part, just mounted in different zones. Codes may vary by model generation and series.
