Bosch dryers (vented, heat pump, and condenser models) show fault codes on the program display. E40 (NTC sensor) and E50 (motor fault) are the most common. Heat pump models also display E64 when the refrigerant circuit underperforms — usually due to a clogged condenser filter.
Lint buildup is behind a surprising number of dryer faults. Clean the primary filter after every load, and vacuum the condenser filter monthly on heat pump models. A blocked airflow path triggers overheating protection, which shows as E10 or E42.
Belt-related codes (E61, E63) mean the drum isn’t turning. On Bosch dryers the belt is a single-piece design that wraps around the drum and tensioner — replacement takes about 30 minutes for a technician with the right part.
