Understanding error code E011.

Temperature sensor open circuit — oven temperature cannot be measured

What E011 means on your Bosch oven

Error code E011 indicates that the oven temperature sensor has an open circuit — the control board cannot read the sensor’s resistance because the circuit is broken. This is the wall oven equivalent of range code E012. Without temperature feedback, the board cannot control the heating elements and disables all cooking functions.

Symptoms

  • The oven won’t heat in any mode — bake, broil, convection
  • E011 appears when attempting to start any cooking program
  • The display may show a temperature reading of 0 or a dashed line

Common causes

  • Failed temperature sensor — the RTD probe breaks internally from years of thermal cycling
  • Loose or corroded connector — the plug where the sensor wire meets the main harness
  • Wire break — the wire running through the oven wall insulation breaks at a heat-stressed point

Troubleshooting steps you can try

  1. Check the sensor connector — on wall ovens, the sensor plug is usually accessible by removing the rear panel or a small access plate. Reseat the connection firmly.
  2. Power reset — unplug or turn off the breaker for 60 seconds after reseating.

When to call a technician

If reseating doesn’t clear E011, the sensor needs replacement. It’s a simple part (a modest cost–a modest cost) mounted inside the oven cavity with one or two screws. A technician will measure resistance (typically ~1,100 ohms at room temperature for RTD probes) to confirm the diagnosis. Codes may vary by model generation and series.
