What E07 means on your Bosch dishwasher
Error code E07 indicates a malfunction with the AquaSensor — Bosch’s optical turbidity sensor that measures how clean or dirty the wash water is. This sensor uses an infrared light beam to detect particles in the water, allowing the dishwasher to adjust cycle duration and water usage. When the sensor fails, the dishwasher cannot optimize its cycle and defaults to maximum water and time.
Symptoms
- Wash cycles run significantly longer than normal
- Higher water consumption than expected
- The sensor light on the control panel may blink
- Despite longer cycles, cleaning performance may be unchanged
Common causes
- Dirty sensor lens — grease, food residue, or mineral scale covers the optical window, preventing accurate light transmission
- Failed sensor module — the infrared emitter or receiver fails electronically
- Wiring issue — the connector between the sensor and control board is loose or corroded
Troubleshooting steps you can try
- Clean the sensor — the AquaSensor is usually located in the sump area near the filter. Remove the lower spray arm and filter assembly, then gently clean the sensor lens with a soft cloth and white vinegar.
- Run a hot empty cycle — run the hottest program with a cup of white vinegar and no dishes. This helps dissolve mineral deposits on the sensor.
- Power reset — unplug for 60 seconds after cleaning.
When to call a technician
If cleaning doesn’t resolve E07, the sensor module needs replacement. The dishwasher will continue to function with E07 — it just can’t optimize water usage. The AquaSensor is not a critical component, so the repair is low priority. Codes may vary by model generation and series.
